We were delighted to build this bespoke contemporary multipurpose home office and playroom furniture for our clients’ home in Weybridge, Surrey. They had decided it was time to invest in a dedicated versatile space which they could use as a home office, library and study as well as a playroom for the children.

Commissioning bespoke fitted furniture from Acorn allowed them to achieve the exact style and features they wanted. The priority was a desk, customised storage so office equipment and toys could be easily concealed and stowed away; and shelves to display books.

Stylish, space-savvy customised furniture

The built-in, made to measure cupboards and open shelving maximise every inch of space in the room and fit the family’s needs perfectly. The fitted furniture features a long, hardwearing continuous worktop, tailored cupboards and drawers and extensive made to measure shelves for the family’s large book collection. The rich dark walnut desktop wraps around the room adding distinctive style as well as plenty of useful space for working.

The cupboards have a streamlined minimal look with no visible hardware. Sleek, handle-free, push to open doors have been carefully crafted to function effortlessly with the best quality Hafele ironmongery and soft close mechanisms.

The custom made cabinetry and display shelving have been meticulously spray painted in a flawless finish, which contrasts beautifully with the natural, hardwearing solid walnut desktop. Combined with concealed cable management, the result is a sleek, clutter-free, contemporary aesthetic.  

Integrated lighting

We integrated bespoke lighting into this built-in furniture and installed the wiring too. Lighting like this adds extra dimension, atmosphere to the bespoke cabinets. You can see some more of our lighting designs here.
