These beautiful bespoke fitted traditional oak wardrobes were designed, built and installed by Acorn for our client’s home in Kingswood, Surrey. Their brief was to create shaker-style wardrobes in solid oak that would fit perfectly with the interior architecture of their period property.

Shaker wardrobe design

The wardrobe doors and drawers are traditionally crafted in the simple shaker style which continues to be one of the best-loved and most requested designs for bespoke cabinetry.

We used European oak for the wardrobes. This premium hardwood is full of character and has an attractive irregular wavy grain and a naturally rich golden-brown hue. The wood was oiled to enhance the lustre and provide exceptional durability. The doors were hung on the highest quality Blum integrated soft-close hinges, which are standard for all of our bespoke fitted furniture projects.

For the wardrobe interior we used a natural oak veneered board which we oiled to match the natural satin finish of the wardrobe doors. We also installed integrated LED lighting within the wardrobe interior. The lights are motion-activated so they come on when the doors are opened.

Matching customised oak bedroom furniture

We designed and constructed oak drawers inside the wardrobe as well as a matching traditional style chest of drawers next to the wardrobe. These were made to measure using real oak veneer and fitted with Blum full extension soft close runners to ensure the drawers will operate smoothly and effortlessly for many years to come. We only use the finest ironmongery for our bespoke furniture to ensure long lasting quality and durability.
